This weekend is the We Love Green festival in/just outside of Paris. I am really happy to be participating thanks to Rosemarie whose Ringo Atelier is hosting workshops for kids there this weekend. I’m in good company too, The House that Jack Built, and many more talented friends will be doing workshops as well. Mine will be a Richard Tuttle inspired eco-friendly mobiles free-for-all craft experience. Sign up a little friend of yours here, space is super limited. I’m very excited to see Charlotte Gainsbourg, Beirut and Herman Dune play! Come check it out!
Went to see Bertrand Belin play last night. It was INCROYABLE!! He is a super talented french musician, sounds like someone from the 60′s and yet totally different from anything right now, and he’s super funny onstage. Can’t recommend his last album Hypernuit enough. Image by Leslie David.
I ran off to London for the holidays and had the chance to visit Emma Cassi while I was there. Always so nice to see her and Bertie, they have such a cute little family. She is working away on so many new pieces. I really love the new wish bracelet she gave me! Going to wear it until it breaks off and hope my wish comes true.
Finding this video made my week!! Why hadn’t I seen it sooo long ago I don’t know. Among a million other feelings it creates like wanting to be on a winter adventure like this and be part of this band of friends, it sets a perfect wintery mood and definitely lifts the spirits. Love the surmounting feeling of the song, as always another beautiful video from this band.
I always have loved Kazu Makino of Blonde Redhead’s style and so this feature from the latest issue of The Travel Almanac was a super nice surprise. A peek inside what’s in her suitcase while traveling. Of course she has beautiful Astier notebooks and Mayle dresses! She is the coolest. It’s a really nice magazine I came across recently all about interesting people and their travels. Definitely worth checking out!
A couple Friday nights ago there was an EPIC celebration of 0fr’s 15 year anniversary, and co-owner Alexandre Thumerelle’s birthday. Set in the beautiful garden of an old mill full of artist’s lofts, with cave-like theaters built into the street overpass that acts as a castle wall to this magical fortress, the night was full of never ending champagne, musical performances, cakes, friends and so much love for this beautiful little bookstore and all the amazing people it’s brought together over the years. With special performances by MAI, Mark Borthwick, Candides, and Two Bunnies in Love, it was such an amazing night!! I can’t wait till the next one! I’m not sure there will be a party that can match this one for quite a while.
I am very excited about this even though I can’t go to it. Society for Rational Dress is having a benefit sale this week Friday/Saturday to raise money for aid in Japan through the Rainbow Project. Cupcakes, champagne, an acoustic performance by ASKA, and beautiful clothes all for a great cause.
Last night I went to see Glasser play for the first time at the Divan du Monde in Paris. She is AMAZING! Such an incredible voice and sound. I loved her outfit as well! A beautiful tulle skirt, pompoms and the coolest looking beret I’ve ever seen. Had a bit of a late night having drinks afterwards with her and friends at Candelaria, but well worth being super tired today. If you get a chance to see her perform do it! Her sound is inspiring!
I’ve been hiding from my computer lately, been busy working on new exciting projects (with stressssssful deadlines this month), and it’s fashion week!(month) so I’m taking it all in and doing a bit of online digesting on my breaks between some laborious work. “Been Hiding” by the Aislers Set has been on heavy rotation and has been a favorite for years. You can listen to a preview of it here. I promise to be back to the regularly exciting posting schedule here soon!
Love this behind the scenes video of Proenza Schouler’s Fall campaign, reminds me of back to school campaigns in the 80′s but in the best possible way. Much more compelling than the ads themselves. Love the music by Washed Out too!
