Today I went to a panel discussion at the Met that had Cathy Horyn of On the Runway, Diane Pernet of A Shaded View on Fashion and Scott Schuman of the Sartorialist, along with Harold Coda from the Costume Institute. All blogs I am an avid reader of, therefore I had to go check it out. It was a great selection of blogs to choose from as they cover 3 very different takes on fashion blogging. I had just read an article on Cathy Horyn in the new issue of Self Service magazine, and was so excited to be hearing her speak because she is one of the few people who have been pursuing relevant conceptual dialogues in fashion, but many of her responses were the very same from the article, so I felt that I had heard the stories and answers to questions that were asked at the discussion as it was a lot of the same topics covered. I also would have liked to have heard more from Diane Pernet, as I find her fascinating as well. She covers so many newer designers who are doing a lot of interesting work and her answers tended to be a bit more brief and concise. A lot of the audiences questions were directed at the Sartorialist and while it was interesting it would have been nicer to delve in a little deeper on the more interesting topics at hand of art as fashion and what the role of blogging in fashion has, the future of it, instead of focusing on how he approaches people to photograph them and how to get your blog to gain popularity.. Despite this it was a very interesting and worthwhile lecture to attend and I hope to see more of this type of panel discussion in the future.

This is incredible, APC’s Jean Touitou has opened a preschool in Paris called APE that has M/M Paris designing a “visual toolbox” for kids to play with, Jessica Ogden teaching art part-time and cashmere nap-time blankets. Sounds so nice even I want to go there. I love Touitou’s comment on the Aalto chairs and cashmere blankets, that it’s never too early to appreciate quality goods, “Even if you grow up to be an accountant, it’s better to be surrounded by beautiful furniture than by ugly furniture.” Good point haha. story and images from the latest issue of W magazine.

She’s so cute! And so lucky to be the new face of Chanel and get all those free clothes.

I wish I could read her site, I love seeing the work of Cecilia Afonso Esteves on her blog flor de papel.

I need these! Why are these amazing things never on the designer’s sites?

It’d be nice to always looked this good even when it’s so dreary out in this city. I am ready for the weather to change, although I still feel cheated that I didn’t get to go sledding in central park with my dog.
