I am off to Stockholm tomorrow and then Copenhagen to go to the Roskilde festival later this week. I will probably still be posting all week though. If anyone has any good shopping tips for Copenhagen let me know.
** actually I haven’t had a free second or much sleep. will return next week. Roskilde is crazy!
Andrew Kuo is a New York based artist who also has been creating brilliantly colorful infographics for the New York Times quantifying the unquantifiable. His humble attitude, humor and awesome color combinations are my favorite aspects of his work. Check out Kuo’s blog and the video of him on the Charlie Rose show.
I think there is something to be said about a woman being able to capture a certain feeling and sensibility of other women differently than a guy can, I think these photos by Kate Barry have that sort of indescribable feeling.
I passed by the Visionaire gallery and this incredible unicorn was in the window for issue 53 of Visionaire magazine. The gallery was closed when I went by and the lights were off, so you can’t see it from this photo, but this is a giant translucent and iridescent purple decal on the window of the gallery. It’s awesome I want one!
I admire Nagi Noda’s amazing imagination, and have ever since I saw this image of the poodle exercise video, that alone convinced me whoever made it is a genius! Of course the more work of hers I saw the more incredible I realized she is. Check out more of her work here.
This weekend was full of fun events in ny. I went to the renegade craft fair in Brooklyn for the first time and it was a great place to pick up little presents. I bought a cute etsy tote, some buttons and a super cute lucky cat paw made of felt by astulabee, who was my favorite booth by far. Some other crafters that I liked were: cake spy, berkley illustration, ink and wit, fern animals, bird and banner, ikskra print, chestnut farmer, and sian keegan who made the really cute stuffed version of Moran, Camilla’s dog. I also attended the 2nd Flux concert, and so sadly missed this epic show in central park! I love the colorful type design for it so much I am posting it anyway.
Recently I went on a little field trip to a new store called Gilly Hicks, (owned by A + F, but is nothing like that brand, no ugly logos plastered everywhere) There is amazing stuff there, and it’s all extremely affordable. There are currently very few locations, which are in pretty random areas as they test this line out, but if you can, I highly recommend checking it out. It’s always so hard to find nice undergarments that aren’t super expensive so I stocked up while I was there. Top image from Nylon magazine, not Gilly Hicks.
An already past collection, but still a good look. For me the nautical look will never die. I didn’t get a chance to check out the Kitsuné boutique while I was in Paris, wish I had.
