Some illustrations I did recently.

This is amazing! As much as I love flipping through a real book, an online version is pretty nice to have too. This new edition of Paris Interiors by Taschen features a peak into the homes of Carine Roitfeld (top image), Rick Owens (2nd image), Ann Valerie Hash + more.

It’s almost September. A collage of my inspiration for Fall 08.. so many things I wish to be wearing.
Images from Self Service, Sonny’s Photos, Phyllis, Refinery 29, Bunny Bisous, Baby Baby magazine + other places..

one of many late night little projects. made by david + me for our dogwalker.

The ever amazing Band of Outsiders is showing their playful side with a new shop in shop set up in Opening Ceremony in LA made entirely of legos. Who doesn’t love legos? I still have mine somewhere in California. I can’t wait to see the shop in person when I go to LA in a couple weeks. Speaking of legos this video is hillarious. Also check out the Band of Outsiders playwell site here.

Years ago in school, I took a fashion + technology class and while I quickly discovered I was not very interested in combining technology with fashion, I made the most of the final project by creating the dress pictured above that would draw the movements of the wearer organically. Sadly these are the only 2 images I have, other than an equally blurry video.
Fiberglass panels fused with semi-transparent paper made a (very much Hussein Chalayan inspired) dress, that used colored pencil tipped tree branches to support the panels and give the dress its form. The wearers movements/motions were recorded by the colored pencil tips which drew on the undersides of the garments panels, visible on the outside of the dress due to the transparency of the panels. I still really like the idea of physically capturing movement and especially liked involving nature in this “technological” process.
A few months back I came across this artist Tim Knowles and loved that one of his projects involved similar ideas, but instead it was actual living trees that were doing paintings based on wind movements, pictured above.

In the gleaming light of a greenhouse, dressed in dreamy dresses. Rather than see it as a sort of bell jar, it looks more like an amazingly fashionable botany school to me.

Taking another night off this week. David is finally back home from Canada with loads of amazing photos. I’m sure his blog will be full of brilliant things next week.

I am so ready for Fall fashion to begin, the weather has been teasing lately. Today it was cool and rainy, but everytime I attempted to put on a sweater and go back outside it would warm up.

Swedish design team JANTZE BROGÅRD ASSHOFF created this cute and functional Greenhouse wastepaper basket prototype, and someone better agree to produce this trash can soon because I want to buy it! It’s simplicity is genius.

A gloomy day like today gets me starting to think about fall. Images from The Blow Up.
