I was doing an image search for endpapers and came across some images of my friend Chris Svensson’s work. As a way of honoring an event from his school’s history, he sewed in a fake appendix to this book belonging to the Central Saint Martins library. Not part of the piece, but I love the yellow stripes! Check out more images and the full story behind this piece here.

Sorry for the lack of posts, it’s been a crazy week! I’m working on a big project, back to normal tomorrow.
I don’t understand why, when everyone loves this magazine, it would go under versus all the other magazine that could have folded instead! I have to say I am pretty annoyed that my subscription lasts longer than this, however, at least the last issue had something to keep me looking back at it. Michael Bargo’s latest apartment has me longing to be back in New York, ridding my life of clutter in order to fit into such small spaces.. Love the curved leather couch and the dark black shelving in the kitchen closet!
While in Paris I was able to see some works by French husband-and-wife artists François-Xavier and Claude Lalanne at JGM gallerie, and I left so inspired! I haven’t come across many books on them except for one that I wasn’t able to check out of the library this weekend, so I snuck some images back with me. Their works have lived in the homes of Yves Saint Laurent, Coco Chanel, Valentino.. and are so imaginative and beautiful with that touch of craziness that I love.
“The supreme art is the art of living.” -François-Xavier Lalanne
I completely forgot! Happy Valentine’s Day!
So this is really it, Mayle is closing on Febuary 28th and then doing a special collection of special past pieces in different fabrics leftover from other previous collections. How I wish I was going to be there to see this! (and had a job so I could buy something too.. that would be nice in itself right now..) Once again I am hoping for Jane Mayle to venture into something else that I can be in awe over and aspire to own lots of.. till then I am happy to have been able to walk Scout past this shop every week and peek in at this beautiful space.

The best art/design bookshop and place to get fashion magazines in Paris, AND a great gallery space with exciting upcoming shows (including Mark Borthwick!) is OFR. Alex of ofr also put out an amazing little map of the Marais, along with other great Paris guides, and previously used to publish the incredible AGENDA magazine. I love it so much I am plotting my return already!
beautiful styling by Yoko Omori
Nina Egli from Toujour Toi and Family Affair contacted me about her and her mom’s lines and sent over the lookbooks for both spring/summer and fall/winter 09. Toujour Toi is the jewelry line designed by Nina, and Family Affair is the clothing line designed by both Nina and her mother Kaya Egli, who was the designer for the Beatles’ Apple store in the sixties. I love the styling so much I couldn’t help but post images from all 3 seasons.
