Go see this film Food Inc! I just went to see this and was surprised by how much I didn’t even know about, especially when I consider myself to be fairly conscious of my food and environment. Even if you don’t live in the US, it’s still really important to see what’s happening to our food here, and to help prevent it from spreading to other parts of the world. Especially in France, it might help to prevent the ban on genetically modified seeds from being lifted.
Also while on this topic, check out Eco Trip, it’s entertaining and fascinating to see what goes into making things and their large scale impact.

I’m off doing some summer scouting for a project. Why don’t girl scout’s dress like this anymore? What happened to the cute uniforms? I never was a girl scout when I was younger, or a brownie either, but I always loved the uniforms. Now they just wear sweat pants or something awful like that. What happened! Why is this country turning more and more things into what I refer to as “the sweatpants of_____(fill in the blank with anything that make’s it overly easy to be a slob)” I think they need to take some tips from my friend Phyllis and her troop and step it up a bit. Nature girls don’t have to look like they just crawled out of the back woods.
I’m off for the weekend! I like to imagine that he never dresses any other way off stage, and can break into song at any moment.. whether it be “chubby little fat man..” or “let’s dance”
Lately I keep coming across the most amazing vintage Issey Miyake pieces, on a friend, at vintage shops, online.. there’s something brewing here and I like it. I’m loving the loose and interesting silhouette that I keep seeing.
Happy Summer Solstice this weekend! I am feeling very inspired by the Michael Besançon talk at the Eco Center, and on a very different level by these amazing Maria Carla images as well. There will be a podcast up online soon of the discussion that I highly recommend listening to.
Dress well, eat well and enjoy the extra light this weekend!
Help support the Ecology Center! This Thursday starts off the first of several talks focused on basic needs and features special guest Michael Besançon of Whole Foods discussing the topic of food, of course. It’s all the way down in Orange County but in the middle of an organic farm outside an old farmhouse, it’s a pretty nice setting and worth the trip.
